Hey guys, having owned a few jap imports before getting into renaults, i used to use this website:

It's good for checking up the actual legal requirements and not what the testers think, the Law isn't if its there it should work! there are time scales for certain years in which requirements were made legal

My uncle used to run his own garage, now he just takes on private jobs at his lockup, he knows the MOT manual, but he would let certain things slide, but that mot testers manual applies to any vehicles being registered in the UK, theres no excuse if you get pulled over by a traffic cop for not having certain modifications done on an imported vehicle
