Hi Guy's
Just rebuilt the front brakes on one of my Rolls-Royce's, and in a bid to save paying off the company national debt, I cross referenced the pads and came up with the same front pads as the Delorean
Halfords part No 375 as fitted to Ford Cortina and Escort.
It seems that Rolls-Royce first used this Girling/lucas caliper and pad in the Silver Shadow and Bentley T from 1967 onwards. It was designed back in 1958-59! Ford took it on in 1969, and Delorean/Lotus in 1978.
Rolls & Bentley fitted TWO calipers per disc and had a pump boosted power brake circuit, but the brakes are basically the same as the Delorean (front). R-R and B stopped using them around 1985/6, but they made it onto the R-R Spirit and first Bentley Turbo's
So next time Joe public ask "Can ya still get parts?" you can say "yes the engines Volvo/Renault and the brakes are Rolls-Royce/Bentley front and Jag rear
Best Regards
D
