Chris P Wrote:Somebody seems to have left a tea shirt wrapped around the steering wheel ! I'm pretty sure that's the airbag, looks like both triggered from the front impact. Gearbox fault turned out to be the shifter cable spot-welding together due to bad earthing (took the starter current). Apparently this is fairly common for the DMC-12, lack of metal chasis means random metal parts can end up taking a lot of current if earthing is lacking. Can't blame Ed for missing this as he was only supposed to be dropping in the engine, Chris N is replacing & adding more earths and will replace the shifter cable. Still, glad the problem wasn't the gearbox itself. Most of the electrics are working correctly now but work continues.

UK spec rear foglight construction in progress :
There will be one on each side. The lenses are from a damaged tail light assembly, so they are a size match and the right one even has a 'DMC' logo on it.

like the turbo embossed in rear fascia, nice touch

Why not mod the original cluster to have the fogs rather than cutting into the fascia?
There is a tutorial on this very site on how to wire up the fog's in such a way that it retains the 4 brake lights: http://deloreans.co.uk/downloads/techni ... ybrake.zip

Usually the only cars with independent factory-fitted foglights are Japanese.

This was the only UK Factory look. Not to everyones taste perhaps. Just writing it up as a matter of fact.

i thought that wasn't a factory change, but a 3rd party adaption to allow the cars to be UK registered in the early 80s? Dusty being an example of a factory RHD which had never been registered and still had the standard rear lights.
