Not too bad an article either. My favourite quote is "not as bad as expected"
Unfortunately I couldn't get the time off from work so they picked the car up and drove it over into Wales without me.

This car with numberplate DJN 988X is VIN11766?
If my data is correct, then this is the ex-DeLorean of Alistair Vanstone and he had numberplate ALZ 5322. I thought that in the UK, the numberplate stayed with the car when this is sold to the next person? I'm confused ...

Normally they do, Andy, but you can sell the reg plate separately if you want. There is a whole mini-industry set up around this, such as:
http://www.regtransfers.co.uk/ Alistair's car originally had a different number, but (I assume) he purchased ALZ 5322 to match his name (ALZ = Al's ). Also ALZ xxxx numbers were originally issued in N Ireland which ties in nicely. I guess he will put it on his next car.

Andy Wrote:This car with numberplate DJN 988X is VIN11766? Andy, just to add, as Alistair took his 'personalised' registration off of the car, the DVLA (UK licencing authority) would have issued the car with whats known as an 'age related' registration - thats why in the UK most DeLorean's have registration's ending in W, X or Y, as they were the age identifiers used from 1980-83 in the UK. 8)

I didn't know 'ALZ 5322' was a personalised numberplate ....
So what was the original numberplate then? You would assume it started with a W, X or Y, since it was build in january 1982. But since this is a 'Middle Eastern' DeLorean, I'm a bit confused on what it's first registration plate was ( UK or Middle Eastern?) ... And 'DJN 988X'? Is that a 'new' numberplate from this year? I think the car had that DJN 988X number before Al changed it.
I would presume that that was the first number assigned to it when it was first registered in the UK after coming back from M.E. What it's first ever plate, in Kuwait, was, I have no idea.

Yup DJN is Als car, now mine. DJN is the first age appropriate plate it was issued when registered in the UK when Al brought it over.
