Brian,
maybe you could approach the owner and see if they wouldnt mind you putting pics of it and some more details on here or maybe in the Club mag? Phill said he'd heard stories about a car in the Wirral that used to get pushed out of the garage, cleaned, then put back again - maybe this is the same car? If its not been used for 14 years, it'll probably need alot of 'service' and mechanical items looking at, including brake overhaul, cooling system overhaul, new tyres (I never trust old tyres), fuel system checking, etc. Mind you, its a rare find in that condition, and going by what cars have been selling for lately, I think he'll probably get within a few grand of his asking price.

It would be nice to see more of it, and whether it's a manual or auto (I've read it over and over and don't see that mentioned).

I am waiting on a reply!
I'll post it here (what I can anyway) and we'll go from there. I've asked about the frame as well as that's the real killer in cost terms if it's not in good nick (it should be given it's history).

lol!!
I reckon you should be ok with the frame, sounds like its spent most of its life dry stored and with that mileage damage to the frame *should* be minimal. According to Knut Grimsrud's 'DMC Vin List' the car was last known of in Brooklyn NY (which tallies with the sellers story), and its a grey interior 5spd manual, sold new by dealer 32101. http://www.dmcnews.com/faq/img/news/n_vinlst.pdf

Hard to tell in that interior pic - looks like a black binnacle but the light is bad. Certainly could be grey.
Hopefully I'll get some info back soon.

its a hard one to call, the cars either side on the vin list are black interior cars
and bar the occasional grey one, or batch of grey, most cars up until the end of September 81 were black interior cars. Anyway, we wont know anymore before you do
