Evening folks,
I've only just got back from a holiday in Florida, but I wanted to tell you about a car cruise I went to on the last day. It isn't the sort of cruise we get over here that's dominated by chavs, but a much more civilised affair that's been going on for 17 years where about 200 classic cars turn up every week and cruise slowly down the bricked streets of a place called Old Town, in Kissimmee, Florida.
I've been going once a year for those 17 years and always just seen the usual 'Stangs, 'Vettes, Chargers etc, but this time as I glanced around to see what was coming along next I was greeted with the sight of a tidy D with a more bassy engine note than normal.
After the cruise all the cars go round to the car park and line-up so people can look at the cars and talk to the owners, so I headed round as soon as it had finished and found the car.
I introduced myself to the owner, who was a really pleasant chap, and told him about the scene in the UK. Apparently he'd paid just $20,000 (about £11,000!) for the car not the long ago, and had had a turbo installed; hence the different engine noise.
The car was in really good nice, and had a VIN number starting with 16, and early wheels and a gas flap.
I have put some photos in below, but I apologise for some of them being a little bit less than clear because it was dark and they kept blurring.
I've added a shot of the licence plate in case it means anything to anyone, as I didn't get the guy's name. It says Polk county on it, so he can't have come far as our house is in Polk county as well and it's only a few miles up the road.
Enjoy.
