a couple of questions - Reckoner - 28 Oct 2011 hi there, I just have a few of questions about the Delorean - specs and whatnot. some of these aren't really important but just things that always bugged me. 1. what's the engine size, and roughly how powerful is it? 2. is the car actually painted silver or is it just the metal? 3. when you drive it around does it often turn heads? 4. how reliable is the car in general?, my dad always said if he ever saw one in the eighties it was parked at the side of the road with its hazard lights on. also Marty Mcfly had some trouble starting his in the movie. 5. does it cost more to tax and insure than your average car? 6. does it have more than two seats? 7. is the engine at the back of the car or the front? 8. does it have a good ground clearance, no problem with speed bumps? 9. if you park between two cars at a supermarket, will the doors open enough to let you out? Re: a couple of questions - dmc4087 - 28 Oct 2011 Google is your friend here, but I'll give a few quick answers Reckoner Wrote:hi there, I just have a few of questions about the Delorean - specs and whatnot. Re: a couple of questions - Guinney1971 - 31 Oct 2011 just to add to Thomas's excellent response, the car in 'standard' US spec is around 130hp, but that can easily be upped to around 150-170hp by doing a few mods which several of us have done/had done - effectively turning the engine into the European version of the engine by removing all the stuff that restricted it to meet the US/Californian legislation of the time on emissions. You will never have a quick trip to the petrol station if you buy a De, be prepared to be asked questions about it by everyone else filling their cars and the cashier, and also have people asking to take photos of it. I still laugh when I drive down the street in mine, and see people stop dead in their tracks and point to the car, with their jaws hitting the floor 8) |
