Bakntim - Bak to standard. - Birksie - 05 May 2011 Finally my bits have turned up from DMC Houston. The BAKNTIM car computer was loosing it's touch as my phone had more processing power, and had more functionality. So it was time for it to be removed. Of course installing the 7" Touch Screen meant that a few modifications to the original radio cage was needed (much to my regret), so my new 1 din radio cage and other bits turned up the other day. Last night I set about installing a full set of new gas struts (Louvres, Doors and Bonnet). Then on to the restoration of my ICE (In Car Entretainment) New Cage and Headlight Switch Kit. Headlight Switch Kit New Door Struts. Car computer...soon to be gone :^( New Radio Cage and old air vents installed. Headlight module. This kit rocks!!!! Back to basics. I even have the Cargo Net installed. Which I've never had fitted since owning BAKNTIM. All done in about 4 hours last night. Re: Bakntim - Bak to standard. - Guinney1971 - 05 May 2011 wow, nice bits Paul, and you certainly work fast. Shame about the car computer, I always thought that looked really smart, but like you say, technology is moving on so fast - mind you, if you'd rigged your car computer up to a Speccy 48k keyboard... now how retro would that have been !! lol  Whats the new headlamp jobbie about then? Re: Bakntim - Bak to standard. - Birksie - 05 May 2011 The Headlight Jobby is a new headlight switch (with blue LED! Wooo!) and a box of electronics with a relay, which essentially takes the high switching current away from the switch. Prolonging the the life of the switch. My current switch wasn't having issues with bad contactcs but had lost its switching springyness and was looking rather dull too. This new switch is like a reset button. It doesnt lock in place when pressed, but instead the blue LED flashes once (then stays on) to alert you switch is in position 1. 2 Flashes when pressed again for position 2 and a third press is obviously 'Off'. It's really quite cool.......although I don't like the connector that came with it, so I bought my own connectors and crimp tool. I'll take a little video clip of it working tomorrow evening. Re: Bakntim - Bak to standard. - Guinney1971 - 05 May 2011 sounds quite funky doody And blue led's... you chav!! lol Re: Bakntim - Bak to standard. - Birksie - 05 May 2011 Hey! lol I'm trying to de-chav my ol'girl. Re: Bakntim - Bak to standard. - Guinney1971 - 05 May 2011 hahahaha!! anyway, I cant talk, I've got lovely blue chav hoses keeping my cooling system in order  Re: Bakntim - Bak to standard. - Birksie - 05 May 2011 Ahhh, that's different. Blue hoses for teh win!!!!1 Re: Bakntim - Bak to standard. - Nick H - 06 May 2011 Looking good. On the computer front, how about a iPad? That would be cool built into the dash. They have a flux capacitor app. . I just upgraded LJH's ICE with a Clarion FZ709E. I finally found a stereo that matches the cars interior. It does have Chav blue lighting. But it has Bluetooth and stream's music from my phone. You can plug in a IPod/iPad or any USB memory stick or use a 3.5mm jack connection. Ahh my 80's hair metal collection sounds great  . Regards Nick H Re: Bakntim - Bak to standard. - Birksie - 07 May 2011 Excellent. Yeah, an iPad would be good. It would need a fully reversable bracket that could be removed with no modification to the interior. I'd go with that. Re: Bakntim - Bak to standard. - Domi - 08 May 2011 Great job  |
