According to the Thames News piece there was only 1 RHD DeLorean at that particular BCA auction, although an article in The Times the following day shows a photo of AXI 1698. Perhaps Thames News got their facts wrong?

According to the Times article, the most expensive out of 11 DeLoreans sold that day was a RHD automatic at £15,250.

There's clearly four D's in that building in that video, including a tan coloured leather interior one.

That's the tan one that went on to be gold car #3, right?

Yes Matt, thats the one, the gold panels were shipped separately.

I suppose as far a TV 'Story" is concerned......why confuse things with too many facts?

I must admit, I'd never heard of 2 RHD's being at the same auction on the same day. There is a similar bit of TV footage showing the rostrum and a few words from Jeff Abrahams, who was brought in to sort out and sell the last few cars...Barrie Wills was not a fan!

The same Jeff Abrahams who donated the large wooden model and test car to the UTFM and Vin 500/1 to an American car museum.

Not Tan... that's the Burgundy one, VIN 10455

There were more DeLoreans outside, Rissy

It looks to me as if the last one has a roof Ariel, but because of the photo quality, can't be sure. But I have seen this in video, taken from the rear and it definitely was AXI 1699.

Someone posted this on another thread... Looks like 1698 but probably AXI 1699. Need to see the original photo Tongue

So was the tan interior one there or not? I'm confused.

There were 5 right-handers sold at BCA's Brighouse auction on 10/02/1983, one of which was Mike and Mary Hooper's car.

Phil,
first time I've seen that ...probably one was yours!

Ive finished cleaning duties, now will start on underneath and the mechanicals.

Some interesting Cave writing.  It says A.F.G. Clutterbuck on the number plate, as on the first press cutting....so its looks like AXI 1699.

Chris is pilot 20 still lurking around in your garage somewhere if so you should get a photo of all 3 together would look cool

RE: RHD Project for auction, 1st Sept 2018 - Chris P - 01 Sep 2018

Pilot 20 has passed on to another 'custodian' weeks ago. Otherwise I would not have been able to even think about acquiring MGJ.

Having now got it on the lift and had a good look underneath, I can report it is rusty in places, especially the suspension, but thankfully not rotten.

Disassembling bits will be time consuming and tricky......all soaking in WD40 now, to help the process.

Just taken the wheels in to be re-painted.

Hope pilot 20 is in good hands also I guess thats a relief in a way that its not rotting. Rust is easily fixed
